How it works
- 1 Pick a duration Choose 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. Ten seconds is the length most CPS leaderboards use; one second measures a single burst, sixty measures stamina.
- 2 Start clicking the pad The clock starts on your first click, so nothing is wasted moving the cursor into position. The live readout tracks clicks, time remaining and running CPS.
- 3 Read your score When time runs out the test freezes and reports CPS, clicks per minute, your best one-second window, the average gap between clicks and a consistency percentage. Beat the stored best and the record updates.

Frequently asked questions
- What is a good CPS score?
- Most people land between 5 and 7 clicks per second on the 10-second test. Above 8 CPS is genuinely fast, and sustained scores past 10 CPS usually mean a technique like jitter or butterfly clicking rather than ordinary clicking. On the 60-second test nearly everyone drops 1–2 CPS as the forearm tires.
- Why does the timer start on my first click?
- A separate start button costs you the time between pressing it and reaching the pad, which on a 1-second run can swallow a third of your score. Starting the clock on click one means every millisecond measured is a millisecond you were actually clicking.
- What are jitter clicking and butterfly clicking?
- Jitter clicking tenses the forearm so the tremor drives the mouse button, reaching roughly 10–14 CPS. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button for 15–25 CPS, and drag clicking pulls a finger across the button so friction fires many actuations at once. All three wear out mouse switches, and jitter clicking can strain the wrist — keep those sessions short.
- Does the test work on a phone or tablet?
- Yes. The pad listens for pointer events, so taps count exactly like mouse clicks. Touchscreen scores usually run higher because two thumbs can alternate, so compare phone results with phone results rather than with mouse results.
- What do peak CPS and consistency mean?
- Peak CPS is the largest number of clicks that landed inside any single one-second window of your run — your best burst. Consistency compares the spread of gaps between clicks with their average: a metronome-steady run scores near 100%, while bursts separated by pauses score much lower at the same average CPS.
- Is my personal best sent anywhere?
- No. Best scores are written to your browser's localStorage, one per duration, and never leave the device. Clearing site data or using a private window resets them, and there is no leaderboard or account to sign into.
- Can I use a keyboard instead of a mouse?
- Yes — focus the pad and press Space or Enter. Each press counts as one click. Key repeat from holding the key down is ignored, so a keyboard run measures how fast you can tap, not how long you hold.
