Pomodoro Timer — Free Online Focus & Break Timer
Focus
25:00
Completed sessions: 0
The Pomodoro Technique splits work into focused intervals separated by short breaks, with a longer break every few sessions. This timer cycles through work and break phases on its own, plays a sound when each interval ends, and keeps count of how many sessions you've finished — no account, no upload, nothing to install.
How it works
- 1 Set your intervals Adjust the work, short break, and long break minutes, plus how many work sessions run before a long break kicks in. The defaults follow the classic 25/5/15 schedule.
- 2 Press Start The countdown begins right away. Pause whenever you need to step away — Resume picks up exactly where you left off.
- 3 Let it cycle When a work session ends, the timer sounds an alert and switches straight into a break, then back to work when the break ends, without you touching a thing.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the Pomodoro Technique?
- A time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s: work in focused 25-minute intervals ('pomodoros'), take a 5-minute break after each one, and take a longer 15–30 minute break after every four sessions.
- Can I change the default 25/5/15 minutes?
- Yes. Edit the work, short break, and long break fields, plus how many sessions run before a long break. Changes take effect on the next phase, or immediately if the timer is paused.
- Does the timer keep running in a background tab?
- Yes. It's based on the system clock rather than screen redraws, so the countdown stays accurate even if the tab is in the background or the screen sleeps.
- Will it play a sound when a session ends?
- Yes, a short three-beep alert plays through the Web Audio API and the display flashes red for a moment. Make sure your device isn't muted.
- Does closing the tab reset my progress?
- Yes. There's no account and nothing is saved to a server, so the session counter and timer state reset once you close or reload the page.
