Frequently asked questions
- How does this spell checker work?
- The tool checks every word in your text against a built-in dictionary of common English words. Words not found in the dictionary are flagged as potential misspellings and the closest matching words are offered as suggestions.
- Why is a correctly spelled word flagged?
- The dictionary covers the most common English words. Technical terms, brand names, unusual proper nouns, and rare words may not be included. You can safely ignore any flag you know is correct.
- Does this tool fix the text automatically?
- No — it highlights issues and suggests corrections, but you apply the fixes yourself in your original editor. This keeps you in control and avoids unintended changes to your content.
- Is my text sent anywhere?
- No. The spell check runs entirely in your browser using a local dictionary. Your text is never sent to a server, stored, or seen by anyone else.
- Does it support languages other than English?
- No. The current dictionary is English only. Non-English words will be flagged as misspelled regardless of whether they are correct.
