Quality 75%
PNG is lossless, so quality has no effect. Switch the output to WebP or JPEG to shrink this image.
Drop a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image, set the quality, and download a smaller file in seconds. The tool re-encodes the image right in your browser and shows exactly how many kilobytes you saved. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
How it works
- 1 Drop or select your image Drag an image onto the drop zone or click it to open the file picker. JPEG, PNG, and WebP are all supported, along with GIF and BMP.
- 2 Set the quality Drag the Quality slider down to make the file smaller. 75% is a good starting point for photos. Switch the output to WebP for the deepest savings.
- 3 Download the smaller file The result shows the new size and the percentage saved. Click Download to keep the compressed copy — the original file on your disk is untouched.
Your data stays private
All processing happens entirely in your browser. No files, text, or data are ever sent to our servers. You can disconnect from the internet and this tool will still work.
Frequently asked questions
- How much smaller will my image get?
- It depends on the image and the quality you pick. A photo saved as JPEG at 75% often drops 60–80% in size. Converting the same photo to WebP usually saves another 20–30% on top of that.
- Does compressing reduce image quality?
- JPEG and WebP use lossy compression, so lower quality settings discard some detail. At 70–80% the loss is hard to see on most photos. PNG is lossless — to shrink a PNG meaningfully, switch the output to WebP or JPEG.
- Why doesn't my PNG get smaller?
- PNG is a lossless format, so re-encoding it at any quality keeps every pixel and often gives little to no reduction. For real savings on a PNG photo, choose WebP output — it keeps transparency and compresses far better.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image data never leaves your device, which makes the tool safe for private photos and confidential documents.
- Can I compress images without losing dimensions?
- Yes. This compressor keeps the original width and height and only reduces file size through re-encoding. If you also want to change the dimensions, use the Image Resizer.
