- Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
- No. Reading the PDF, extracting the text, and building the Word file all happen in JavaScript inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted, so the tool keeps working even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
- What kind of PDFs can it convert?
- Text-based PDFs — the kind produced by exporting from Word, a browser, or most report generators. These carry a selectable text layer that the converter reads directly. A scanned document is really an image of text with no text layer, so there is nothing to extract; converting one gives an empty document because there is no OCR step.
- Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
- No, and that's by design. The goal is editable text, not a pixel-perfect clone. You get the words, in order, split into paragraphs. Exact fonts, multi-column layouts, headers, footers, and embedded images are not reproduced — you get clean text you can reformat however you like.
- Does it keep images, tables, and formatting?
- Images and complex table layouts are not carried across. Simple structure — paragraphs, line breaks, and page breaks between pages — is preserved. If you need the pictures too, keep the original PDF alongside the Word file.
- Which apps open the resulting .docx?
- Any modern word processor: Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, and Apple Pages all read the .docx format the tool produces.
- Is there a page or file-size limit?
- There's no artificial cap. The practical limit is your device's memory, since the whole file is processed in RAM. Ordinary documents of dozens or hundreds of pages convert without trouble on a normal laptop.
